コンコルド広場
Place de la Concorde is a large square in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France, located in the heart of the right (north) bank of the Seine River in Paris. It is located between the Tuileries Gardens and the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, from which the square originates. The square covers 7.6 hectares (19 acres), making it the largest square in Paris.
It was originally called “Place Louis XV” because of the equestrian statue of Louis XV. However, with the outbreak of the French Revolution, the equestrian statue was removed and the name was changed to “Place de la Revolution. During the French Revolution, it was also the site of the guillotine executions of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The current name “Place de la Concorde” began to be called by its present name during the Revolt of Vendémiaire in 1795.
During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Place de la Concorde will be the venue for urban sports. This square, located in the heart of Paris, will host sports that are dynamic and popular with the younger generation: breakin’, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and 3X3 basketball. As well as these competitions, there will also be entertainment such as concerts, exhibitions, and sports demonstrations.34 Thus, Place de la Concorde is closely linked to the Paris Olympics 2024.
Place de la Concorde（コンコルド広場）は、フランス・パリ8区にある大広場で、パリのセーヌ川右岸（北岸）の中心部に位置しています。テュイルリー庭園と、同広場が起点となるシャンゼリゼ通りとに挟まれた場所にあります。広場の面積は7.6ヘクタール（19エーカー）で、パリで最大の広場です。
この広場は、元々はルイ15世の騎馬像が設置されていたため「ルイ15世広場」と呼ばれていました。しかし、フランス革命の勃発により騎馬像は取り払われ、名前も「革命広場」に改められました。フランス革命中には、ルイ16世やマリー・アントワネットへのギロチン刑が行われた場所でもありました。現在の「コンコルド広場」という名前は、1795年のヴァンデミエールの反乱において、現在の名前で呼ばれ始めました。
2024年のパリオリンピックにおいて、コンコルド広場は、都市型スポーツの会場となります。この広場は、パリの中心部に位置するため、ダイナミックで若い世代からも支持を集めるスポーツ、ブレイキン、BMXフリースタイル、スケートボード、3X3バスケットボールが実施される予定です。これらの競技だけでなく、コンサート、エキシビション、スポーツのデモンストレーションなどのエンターテインメントも予定されています34。このように、コンコルド広場はパリオリンピック2024と密接に関連しています。
