カルナック巨石群

The Carnac megalithic complex is located in Carnac, Brittany, northwestern France, and is part of a prehistoric site dating back 6,500 years. The megalithic complex is the largest in Brittany and consists of several rows of huge menhirs (upright megaliths) stretching approximately 4 km in length.

The Karnak megalithic complex is composed of three main groups of megaliths, from the west: the Mennec, Kermario, and Kerrescan columns. The menhirs range in size from a minimum of 50 cm to a maximum of 6 m, and it is believed that some once exceeded 20 m in length.

Why these megaliths were arranged in countless numbers is still a mystery. They are thought to be Neolithic megaliths, and are thought to have played a cultural role, such as in religion.
